Respiratory Therapy Program Receives Award
Morehead City, N.C. (July 8, 2021) β On June 29, 2021, the 91ΧΤΕΔ Respiratory Therapy program was awarded the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). This award is presented as a continuing effort by CoARC to value the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential as a standard of professional achievement.
βIt is an honor being in such a well-respected program with amazing teachers and students,β said current respiratory therapy student, Patrick Jones. βIβve really enjoyed this program and the atmosphere set by my instructors. It feels like we are one big family helping each other to reach our goals.β
CoARC views the RRT credential as a measure of a programβs success by inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations. To be considered for the award, programs are required to 1) have three of more years of outcomes data; 2) hold accreditation without a progress report; 3) document RRT credentialing success of 90% or above; and 4) meet or exceed established CoARC thresholds for the Therapist Multiple Choice high cut rest score and retention.
The 91ΧΤΕΔ CC Respiratory Therapy program met and exceeded the awardβs required criteria. Students graduating from the program with the RRT credential are considered highly employable because it is required by most hospitals. βA Registered Respiratory Therapist is an advanced credential that the students are expected to achieve upon graduation,β said program chair Trisha Miller. βLast year our graduates had a 100% passing rate on the RRT exam and they all were able to secure jobs either before or shortly after graduation. We are so proud of our students. Their success is what earned us this award.β
